released 03-30-1991.
1.28 -- maintenance, enhanced support for black & white
monitors, fixes to .if keyword, released 11-20-1990.
1.28 -- modifications, released 09-10-1990.
Additions: Print[] keyword to toggle topic printing on
and off. OnExit[] keyword stores command line to execute
once when topic changes.
Changes: Hotwords not rewritten when update is off. Processing
of comparisons within If keyword reenabled. Title keyword
truncates long strings. Revised books loaded from DOS command
line now reindexed, but must be on file path. Moved Iris-XTR
to Prism disk to make room for expansions to other manuals.
1.27 -- modifications, released 06-20-1990.
Additions: Popup notetaker, online help, print topic from
menu.
1.26 -- modifications, released 03-20-1990.
Additions: added detection of compressed format, and added
PackBook utility program to Prism disk. Stored initial screen
as a separate disk file for inclusion by authors into their
own books. Added "type checking" for color and window names,
et cetera. Enchanced error checking in CFG files.
Changes: Moved MicroStar programs to a separate diskette.
Stopped using self-extracting archives for distribution, but put
Iris-Doc and Iris-Ref into compressed formats.
1.25 -- modifications, released 03-10-1990.
Changes: BookMarks now save "titles" whether "codes" are in
use. Encrypted format is now auto-detected when CodeBook 1.25
was used. Format keyword is redundant, but allowed. The name of
a book can be given at Dos command line. Closing logo
reworded. HardCopy can read encoded books, and use MicroStar
printer definitions. Enabled .Execute[ .. /Q ] as documented.
Additions: Added named window for the "press [Enter]" icon.
Added "CodeBook" and "Maximums" entries to reference book,
deleted documentation for .Format since it is now redundant.
1.24 -- modifications, released 01-10-1990.
Changes: new routine speeds displays when control codes are
used. Changes to .CFG file causes book to be re-indexed. Next
routine can accept number of topics to skip. Put Iris-Ref in
an self-extracting archive to save space. Moved SoftCopy to
Iris disk.
Additions: Added Format, SetCode, SaveMake, and LoadMark
keywords, and a Backup by Book menu item. Included MicroStar
text editor on Prism disk. Changes to Prism disk to make
room for MicroStar. Default Prism editor is now MS.EXE. The
[@]-sign character is an alternate "Note" line, like [^K]
and [^L]. HardCopy now offers a "plain" mode which strips
all control characters. CodeBook utility added to Prism
disk.
1.23 -- modifications, released 11-20-1989.
Changes: [PageUp] keys backs up by screen. [PageDn] key acts
like [Enter]. [Home] and [End] send "press enter" icon to
opposite corners of the screen.
Additions: Drop to dos before loading a book. Internal
routine "extends" backup by topic. Less likely to fall into
a loop when one topic calls another which goes back to the
first topic. Transparent to user.
1.22 -- modifications, released 11-10-1989.
Changes: Hotwords can now be placed within "quotes".
Cosmetic changes to documentation for speech synthesizers.
Released Iris-Doc and Iris-Ref in plain ascii rather than
Sprint format.
Additions: Update menu item and keyword can toggle speech
synthesizer compatibility. Turn .Update[On] for screens to
be rewritten through bios for sythesizers.
1.21 -- modifications, released 10-10-1989.
Changes: View List handles quoted names properly. "Empty"
strings return a zero value when converted. Pagination
feature uses last line of window properly. "Extended" keys
do not bypass "Press Enter" icon. ChkPrn utility does not
"initialize" printers. Prompts and boilerplate in Topx
utility reworded. Trivial correction to Iris-Doc (no need to
review). Inserted list of "synomyn" keys to .Macro topic in
Iris-Ref.
1.20 -- major upgrade, release 09-10-1989.
Additions: Topic names can be placed in text or in popup
menus. The menu items, "Contents" and "Index", can be linked
to author-defined topics. [BackSpace] menu offers "Screen",
"Topic", or "View". [Ctrl] codes can be placed in text to
change screen colors (codes compatible with Galaxy and
Sprint WP programs). [^K] and [^L] are considered "note"
characters. Tabs can be replaced with spaces. The
.Contents keyword now controls additional menu items. The
.Execute keyword can use a "quiet" mode (command is not
echoed). New keywords: codes, contents, float, hotchr,
hotsub, inxpage, loadwndw, macro, macroAdd, savetext,
savewndw, tabs, tborder, tcolor, text, tocpage, topic.
Altogether, 48 keywords are now supported. ASCII and Sprint
files can be both be read under program defaults. Hardcopy
utility distributed with program.
Changes: The term "Page" is replaced with "Topic"
throughout. Backup by Topic now available through
[BackSpace] menu. [Tab] key selects HotWords. The
"Pick-List" is now called "View-List". The "Quit" menu item
is now called "X-Exit". Maximum length for Topic or
Variable names is 23 characters (up from 16). Maximum
Topics/Variables per books is 400 (down from 512). Maximum
popup items per page is 64 (down from 128). The .macro
keyword can use [ctrl] characters in "DOS" format. Frompage
keyword is dropped (use Return instead). The (proprietary)
index format is modified to include a "header" and "record
separator". The default index extension is now ".Mrk."
Revised documentation to reflect additions and changes.
Iris registration fee is now $8.00. Prism: The "Pages" menu
item is now called "Labels". Topx utility distributed with
program. Prism registration fee is now $16.00.
1.1 -- minor upgrade, released 08-10-1989. Sent free of
charge to all registered users.
Additions: .Next keyword can be used to jump to next
"physical" page. .Return keyword can be used in place of
.Frompage. <F10> can be used as an <Esc> key.
Changes: <Tab> key backs up by page (like .Return).
Indexer can handle invalid names and unusual file ends.
File Path subsumes DOS path. .Execute can parse all command
line parameters. .Execute can use ^lookup variables. Drop
to DOS and .Execute use the actual DOS ComSpec. Standard
DOS messages display with program messages when appropriate.
.Hilite and .Fill accomodate any "top margins". .EOLchars
can use fewer than 4 options. Fixed all other known
problems. Revamped documentation.
